In Wakefield, we have a thriving health and care sector.
Pinderfields Hospital, part of The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, is a designated Major Trauma unit and houses the Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre which is one of twelve specialist spinal injury centres in the UK. The hospital also has a Regional Adults Burns Centre and Regional Children’s Burns Unit, together with a Research Delivery Team who complete studies aimed at helping to improve understanding of many health issues and testing new surgical devices and drugs.
Our care sector, vital to support our residents with an increasingly ageing population, is thriving and offers a wide range of care delivered in the persons own home and in specialist accommodation.
In addition, the District has two hospices, Wakefield Hospice and Prince of Wales Hospice, able to offer expert care to local people with life limiting illnesses.
